LG TV Warranty: How Long It Lasts and How to Check Your Coverage
Every LG television sold in the US — LED, NanoCell, QNED and OLED alike — comes with a one-year limited warranty covering parts and labor from the date of purchase.
Certain premium OLED models add a longer panel warranty on top: one year of full parts-and-labor coverage, then four further years of panel-only coverage, making five years in total on the panel itself. This has historically applied to LG's higher-end OLED ranges rather than the whole OLED line, so it is worth confirming against your exact model rather than assuming any OLED qualifies.
Whichever set you have, the panel warranty covers manufacturing defects in the panel. It does not cover burn-in, and it does not cover a cracked screen. Those are the two failures owners most often hope are covered, and neither is.

Check whether your model qualifies for the extended panel coverage before relying on it. LG has applied it to its flagship OLED ranges — the gallery and flagship series — while the more mainstream OLED models have carried the standard one year. LG has at times run promotional warranty extensions tied to registering the TV in the LG ThinQ app. These are genuine and free, but they require you to register within a stated window after purchase, so if your set is new it is worth checking whether an offer applies.
Burn-in on OLED panels is excluded. LG's panels include mitigation features — pixel shifting and a panel refresh cycle — and using them is your responsibility. A panel with retained station logos or a permanent game HUD will not be replaced under warranty.
Where to find the serial number on a LG tv
Every warranty claim starts with this number, and on most products it is somewhere non-obvious. Here is where to look, in the order most likely to work.

What the LG warranty does not cover
These are the exclusions that cause real claims to be declined. They are worth reading before you call, because knowing which category your problem falls into changes the conversation.
- Cracked, chipped or pressure-damaged screens — treated as accidental damage
- Burn-in and image retention on OLED panels
- Damage from power surges, lightning and household electrical faults
- Cosmetic damage to the bezel, stand or rear casing
- Damage from improper wall mounting or from the set falling
- Repairs attempted by anyone other than an LG authorized servicer
- Picture and sound problems originating in your source device, cable service or internet connection
- Commercial, rental or public display use rather than normal home use
- Issues caused by third-party streaming apps rather than the TV's own firmware
Is an extended warranty worth it?
For TVs, the useful question is not how long the coverage runs but whether it includes accidental damage. LG Premium Care and retailer plans extend the term; only some include physical damage. Since a cracked panel is both the most likely expensive failure and the one the standard warranty never covers, a plain term extension is the weaker purchase.
If you bought a qualifying premium OLED, you already have five years on the panel — the single most expensive component. Buying a plan on top of that is largely redundant unless it adds accidental damage.
