Samsung Dishwasher Warranty: How Long It Lasts and How to Check Your Coverage

Samsung dishwashers sold in the US are covered for one year on parts and labor. Beyond that, Samsung publishes longer parts-only coverage on two components: the stainless steel tub and the wash motor, with the motor commonly carrying ten years.

There is an important condition attached that does not apply to most other Samsung appliances. On several dishwasher lines the extended component coverage requires you to register the product within 30 days of purchase and to have installed it according to Samsung's published guidelines. Miss the registration window and you can lose the long tier entirely while keeping the standard year.

If you have just bought a Samsung dishwasher, registering it is genuinely the highest-value five minutes available to you. If you bought it some time ago and never registered, check your model's specific terms before assuming you have ten-year motor coverage.

Register within 30 days if your model's extended tiers require it. Samsung's registration page is the same one used for all their appliances, and it takes the model code, serial number and purchase date.

Installation matters more for dishwashers than for most appliances, because a great many warranty declines trace to installation rather than the machine. The unit has to be level, plumbed to code, properly secured to the counter or cabinet, and — the one most often skipped — the drain hose has to be routed with a high loop or air gap so waste water cannot siphon back into the tub.

Warranty service must be performed by a Samsung authorized service center, and you will need a dated proof of purchase.

Hard water scale and detergent residue are maintenance issues, not defects. A dishwasher that cleans poorly because the spray arms are blocked with scale is not a warranty claim, and a technician visit for that will be billed to you.

The label sits in a spot that is repeatedly wetted and heated, and printed labels there fade faster than anywhere else in a kitchen. Photograph it during installation.

Before buying any plan, register the dishwasher. On lines where the long motor and tub coverage is registration-conditional, registering gets you years of coverage for free that a plan would otherwise be charging you for.

After that, the honest gap is the same as with any dishwasher: control boards, door latches, heating elements and circulation pumps are covered only in year one, and those are the realistic failure points. A plan covering years two and three is buying coverage on things that do actually break.

Set that against the replacement cost. Dishwashers are among the cheaper major appliances to replace, and a multi-year plan can easily reach a third of the price of a new unit. If the plan cost approaches that, self-insuring is a defensible choice.
